Read Ahead: August 9th - 1 Kings 19:9-18; Romans 10:5-15; Matthew 14:22-33

August 16th - Isaiah 56:1, 6-8; Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32; Matthew 15:[10-20] 21-28

Steve and I met as teenagers, 22 years ago at a gas station in Fridley, MN. We have 3 amazing kids, Steven (24), RaeLeigh (14) and Cassanova (7). When I met Steve, Steven was 2 years old. I have loved and treated him just as my own. Although he doesn’t call me mom, he calls me every Mother’s Day so that tells me I did something right. Steven works and lives in Minnesota and now has a son of his own, our first grandchild, Nickolas.

Rae is an amazing young lady all around. She just graduated Middle School with exemplary excellence in reading / language arts and math and will start earning college credits next year! She is the first one to shout out a compliment and makes friends with everyone. In her free time, she likes hanging out with friends and going to the mall or movies. She is very involved with sports, cheering for her High School teams and excels in MMA – she is nationally recognized as a grey black belt in jujitsu and a grey belt in kickboxing. She has recently gotten Steve and I to join her on the mat and I can say, she makes it look easy!

Cass has such a sweet soul and so much energy! He also excels in school subjects, staying in the top 97% on all of his standardized tests. He loves books, building legos, driving his RC cars and riding his bike and has recently started playing video games with dad. Cass is also involved with Jujitsu, he has been training since he turned 5 and loves to compete in tournaments. He recently earned his 100 day consistency belt and was promoted to his orange belt, black stripe. He is excited to start second grade and to see all his friends and he will tell you that the only one he loves more than God, is his dog Irie.

Steve and I enjoyed our younger years together traveling and enjoying life. In 2017 we decided to make Florida our forever home. When we moved to San Carlos Park, Steve started working with Texas Roadhouse Estero before the building was even standing, so they call him the original roadie. I have been with my company, Summit Mortgage for a total of 20 years, starting as an intern when I was still in high school and now for the past 17 years.

We try to get back to MN at least once a year to visit, Cass just saw snow for the first time last February and you can usually find us on a cruise sometime in December. In our free time we enjoy hanging out together. We have a very small family so Steve and I try to do everything we can together with the kids. We enjoy family bike rides, camping, swimming, kayaking and listening to music on the highest setting (we are a loud family!) We have family dinners and play cards or board games together almost every night and we feed our community together every month. We encourage our kids to be themselves, pushing them to help others and teaching them to be great humans.

With love,

Righter Family

Walking the Mourner's Path Training

...Val Bridegam

Recently, I had the privilege of attending the Walking the Mourner's Path facilitator training at DaySpring Episcopal Conference Center in Parrish, Florida. As the Care and Connection Specialist at Lamb of God, I was excited for the opportunity to learn how we can better support those who are grieving. I returned with not only valuable resources and practical tools, but also a renewed appreciation for the importance of compassionate listening and Christ-centered care.

The experience was enriching both personally and spiritually. It deepened my understanding of the many emotions people face after the loss of a loved one and reinforced how important it is for the church to provide a safe, caring place where individuals can share their journey with others who understand.

If you or someone you know is struggling with the loss of a loved one, please know that you do not have to walk the journey alone. Walking the Mourner's Path is a Christ-centered grief support ministry that offers encouragement, understanding, and companionship as you move toward healing. We look forward to sharing more information about upcoming groups in the near future.

If you would like more information, you need a companion to sit with you, please contact me at val@lambofgodchurch.net or call the office at 239-267-3525 ext. 111.

Eva's Closet

Lamb of God is excited to deepen our partnership with Eva's Closet, providing a new drop site for donations. Eva's Closet does a phenomenal job serving people in need throughout the community. Donating lightly used items could not be easier for our families and the neighborhood... spread the word!!

Larger Church

As Lutherpalians, we are a part of both the Lutheran and Episcopal Church. Locally, that's a combined total of 236 congregations. Nationally, that represents 15,136 congregations. Our influence has double the impact!

Following Worship on Aug. 9th, there will be a brief opportunity for everyone to meet our Bishops. From there, they will be invited into a working lunch with our Board of Trustees and our internal ecumenical team. Thank you for your prayers as our relationships continue to deepen. It'll be an inspiring morning!

Monday, August 24th 9:00am-11:00am

Because our last opportunity was so transformational, we're serving again! We need a few people to serve food and few others to prepare a designated main dish. Let us know you're interest by August 10th. You'll then be given logistics and cooking instructions.

Seekers

Wednesdays, 10:30 am

Beginning July 1, the Seekers group will be discussing Cherished Belonging: The Healing Power of Love in Divided Times by Fr. Gregory Boyle, SJ. Boyle is the founder of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, the largest gang-intervention, rehabilitation and reentry program in the world.

From the dust jacket:

“Cherished Belonging invites us to nurture the connections that are all around us and live with radical kindness. Boyle believes that ‘the answer to every question is, indeed, compassion.’ Through colorful and profound stories brimming with wisdom, humor, and inspiration, we understand that love is the light inside everything.”

The Seekers group will discuss this book, chapter by chapter, on zoom. To join the discussion, contact Judy Frye at judyfrye608@gmail.com for the zoom link. All are welcome.
